You need these 5 vintage hairstyling brushes
While there are a lot of tools you can use and make work for vintage hairstyling, these are my favorite little helpers. These brushes and combs all have a specific purpose and make styling a thousand times easier. And faster, which we can all be excited about.
Most of these should be fairly easy to find locally in your city or you can click through the links. The right tools for the job:
-
Rat tail comb:Best used to part hair for setting, curling and styling. You can also use this comb to tease the hair as well.
-
Teasing brush/comb: This is hands down my favorite teasing brush! I have used this style on all types of hair thickness and texture and it works for everyone! (at least as far as i have experienced.)
-
Boar bristle brush:After your style is shaped use this brush to smooth over the teased areas and lightly over the outside of the style for a sleek finish.
-
Denman 7/9 row:I use this brush during the shaping process and the brush out of a set. It keeps frizz and ends manageable.
-
Wide tooth comb and pick combo:Wide tooth combs are great for breaking up curls on styles that are a little more loose in the finished look.
If you already have these then awesome!! I’ll be posting some videos showing how and when I use these tools during the styling process.
Retro hairstyles can be done without all of these things but they definitely make life a lot easier. If you’re anything like me then just about every part of your day is scheduled or damn near and I can use all the help I can get.
I hope this helps you all save a few extra minutes in your day to enjoy some coffee, paint your toes, or play with kids and pets. Or smooch on your hunny a little longer.
Happy Hair Day! XOXOXOX
